JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Defense and External Relations Division of the Executive Mitigation Team (PB) of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), Eka Mulyana, gave a special message to people who do not believe in the Covid-19 pandemic.

Eka reminded people who consider Covid-19 to be a hoax or the result of a conspiracy, that in fact, Covid-19 exists and takes the lives of many people in a short time.

“We hope that if you are among those who do not believe in Covid, you will not sacrifice the safety of others with this mistrust,” Eka said in a press release on Saturday (12/5/2020).

The PB IDI Mitigation Team in the press release reported that from March to December a total of 342 medical and health workers died as a result of the Covid-19 infection.

He said that the high increase in Covid-19 patients and the mortality rate of medical and health personnel were a warning for all parties to remain vigilant and comply with health protocols (3M).

Because, he continued, by ignoring health protocols, people would not only sacrifice their own safety, but also that of their family and those closest to them.

“This pandemic will pass with the cooperation of all parties, including you,” he said.

Eka, as part of PB IDI’s mitigation team, also relayed a message to health and medical staff to be vigilant and continue to carry out standard operating procedures (SOPs).

According to him, this is the same as in the standard guidelines for the protection of the doctor when attending and in the family or the community.

Meanwhile, PB IDI Mitigation Team Guidelines and Protocol Team member Weny Rinawati added that healthcare workers should not reduce the quality of personal protective equipment (PPE) used.

“Currently, the standard level of PPE that healthcare workers must wear is the highest level, according to the risk of the place of service,” he explained.

Weny also hopes that the government and health facility managers will also provide adequate personal protective equipment for tenants.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, privately practicing healthcare workers must continue to wear levels of PPE in accordance with potential risks in treating patients.
