Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Police condemned the ambush action carried out by a group of mobs when investigators from Polda Metro Jaya were about to deliver a second summons to Rizieq Shihab in Petamburan, Tuesday (2/12).
The head of the Public Information Office of the National Police (Karopenmas), Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, emphasized that there are sanctions for this obstruction.
“Of course there are sanctions, I will say we are a rule of law,” Awi told reporters at the police headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (2/12).
“I think the public should also know that we have to obey the laws of anyone, there is no exception,” he added.
He also reminded Rizieq to be athletic so he can undergo the legal process. Awi said Rizieq’s statement was needed as a witness to investigate the alleged violation of health protocol during an activity in Petamburan, in central Jakarta, some time ago.
Rizieq, who was once cited by investigators at Polda Metro Jaya, was absent once during the investigation on Tuesday (1/12). As a result, the police issued a second citation for December 7.
“We must enforce it together. If the person involved in this matter violates the law, of course it must be fair,” Awi said.
To obtain information, there was a riot when investigators from Polda Metro Jaya visited Rizieq Shihab’s residence today to deliver a second summons.
The police found an obstacle from the FPI Laskar guarding the place. The Laskar party asked authorities to wait while it coordinated with Rizieq’s family.
For 45 minutes, investigators were unable to meet with Rizieq’s family to file a subpoena. The negotiations were difficult. Continual crying and cursing accompanied the process.
Not seeing a bright spot, the police decided to leave the scene. They, as well as the media team they covered, were “showered” with bad language. Journalists are also intimidated.
