The end of the year holidays and the joint license are definitively canceled, this is the scenario

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Holidays and going out together at the end of the year seems to be an illusion. Because, the government is currently reviewing to cancel this matter.

This began with the instruction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) last week to review whether the holidays and collective leave were implemented. The main consideration is the Covid-19 pandemic, which is spreading more and more.

Although it has not been officially announced, the holidays and collective leaves of the end of this year will surely be canceled. Furthermore, the Covid-19 case has set records many times during November 2020.

This should be a red flag for all stakeholders, from the government to the community, to be more relentless in implementing health protocols.

The Covid-19 case again reached its highest daily record on Sunday (11/29/2020), that is, the addition of 6,267 new cases.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy told CNBC Indonesia last weekend that concerned line ministers had held a joint permit appraisal meeting later this year. He also said that there were several options related to this.

However, Muhadjir was reluctant to detail the options that were presented at the ministerial-level meeting. One thing is for sure, the meeting decision will be discussed before the chair makes a decision.

As is known, in a press release after a limited meeting of the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on Monday (11/23/2020), Muhadjir revealed Jokowi’s request regarding the joint license at the end of the year.

“Then, on the issue of the holidays, the joint leave at the end of the year, including the holidays instead of the leave with Eid al-Fitr, the president instructed that there be a reduction,” he said.

According to Muhadjir, Jokowi also ordered the PMK Coordination Ministry and related ministries / agencies (K / L) to hold a coordination meeting, especially regarding the issue of the end of the year holidays and the replacement of holidays by Idul. Fitri.

The government has changed the joint Eid 2020 license, which was supposed to be granted last May at the end of this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This was summarized in the Presidential Decree of Joint Leave 2020 for State Officials, which was signed by Jokowi, on Tuesday (8/18/2020).

In total, there are four days of leave with Eid al-Fitr, namely December 28, 29, 30 and 31 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) instead of taking leave with Eid Al-Fitr 1441 Hijriah.

This joint license is flanked by the collective license and the national holidays of Christmas on December 24 and 25 and the New Year on January 1. These holidays are close to the weekends, so ASN can take a holiday from December 24 to January 3.
