jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi immediately reacted to the viral video call with a call for prayer for jihad. In contrast to the common call to prayer, the call to prayer is chanted using the pronunciation of jihad.
The sentence hayya ‘alas-shalah is changed to hayya’ alal-jihad. The viral video also shows several people carrying sharp weapons in the call to prayer.
Zainut admitted that he did not understand the context of the making of the video. Is it limited to creating content for social networks or is there a special message to convey?
If the call to prayer is meant to convey a message of war, then the deputy minister said, calling for jihad in the definition of war is very irrelevant to convey in a peaceful situation like Indonesia today.
“If the call is intended to give a message to war, it is clearly irrelevant. Jihad in a peaceful country like Indonesia cannot be interpreted as war,” explained the Deputy Minister of Religion in Jakarta, on Monday (11/30).
He invited the leaders of the Islamic mass organizations and scholars to be able to provide enlightenment to the community so that they do not get caught up in textual interpretation without understanding the context of the Qur’anic verses or hadiths.
An understanding of religion that is based solely on textuality can lead to a narrow and extreme understanding of religion.
Zainut evaluated that whatever the reason, the video could generate erroneous perceptions in society.
