President Joko Widodo established the simultaneous election day for Pilkada, Wednesday, December 9, 2020, as a national holiday.

This was stipulated by Jokowi through Presidential Decree Number 22 of 2020 regarding the Voting Day for the Election of Governors and Vice Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, as well as mayors and vice mayors in 2020 as National Holidays. This Presidential Decree was signed on Friday (11/27/2020).

“To determine Wednesday, December 9, 2O2O as a national holiday in the context of the election of Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Regent and Lieutenant Governor, as well as Mayor and Deputy Mayor simultaneously,” read the extracts from the Presidential Decree seen by Kompas .com, Sunday (11/29/2020).

The Presidential Decree enters into force as of the stipulation date, that is, on November 27, 2020.

For your information, the 2020 simultaneous regional elections were held in 270 regions of Indonesia, spanning 9 provinces, 224 districts and 37 cities.

The campaign period lasts 71 days, starting from September 26 to December 5, 2020.
