JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments, as well as the Acting Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, have requested that the export policy for lobster seeds be evaluated.

However, Luhut did not rule out the possibility of continuing the policy that was being temporarily suspended. This was revealed by the spokesperson for the coordinating minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments, Jodi Mahardi, in a written statement on Sunday (11/29/2020).

“The policy regarding lobster is still being evaluated. Yesterday, the message from the Coordinating Minister (Luhut) that if it is good (the lobster seed export program) is still working, do not fear if it is true,” he said Jodi.

Jodi said, for the coordinating minister Luhut, that the most important thing was that all the stages and procedures were followed. For example, the growing requirements for exporters.

Furthermore, Luhut also does not want corruption or collusion in the execution of government work programs. However, the continuation of lobster seed exports will await the results of the government evaluation.

“We have to distinguish between wrong policies and wrong or embezzled execution,” Jodi said.

Previously, the lobster seed export policy was temporarily suspended. This is based on the Circular Letter from Plt. Director General of Capture Fisheries Number B.22891 / DJPT / Pl.130 / XI / 2020 dated November 26, 2020.

The circular stipulates the temporary cessation of the issuance of the release time determination (SPWP) to the heads of the provincial / regency / city KP offices, the chairman of the joint business group for the BBL (Clear Lobster collectors) Seed) and the exporters of BBL.

The Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) also responded to the arrest of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Edhy Prabowo, who has now been named a suspect in the alleged bribery for the export of lobster or potato chips.

Walhi’s campaign coordinator Edo Rakhman assessed that after Edhy’s arrest, the fry export policy should have been canceled. Walhi encouraged President Joko Widodo to order Acting Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, to revoke the regulation.

“And carry out a comprehensive assessment of all parties within the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries that have been actively involved in the policy-making process,” he said in a written statement on Thursday (11/26/2020).
