Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Vice President of MUI for the period 2020-2025 Anwar abbas respond to criticism and the hopes of a number of parties that have asked their institution to remain critical after the massive turnover of results management Munas X.
One of the hopes that MUI would remain critical under the new leadership was expressed by former MUI Deputy General Secretary (Wasekjen) Tengku Zulkarnain via his Twitter account.
“Do I dare with my friends who are in the management of MUI for the period 2020-2025 to remind the government if the government is wrong?” he said, through a written message to CNNIndonesia.com, Friday (11/27) night.
“If my friends and I cannot and do not dare to do so, then the question is why should I be in MUI? Although my age is approaching 66, I must prepare to face it,” he added.
Anwar claimed that the department is useless if it does not dare to do something meaningful to many people or countries.
“The post is a mandate and if I cannot carry it out, I will dig a hole in my own fall in the eyes of Allah SWT,” he said.
“If I cannot and do not dare to do it and I cannot do something significant and meaningful for many people, that is, for the people and for the nation and for this country, then, in my opinion, the position that I occupy now is useless. and nonsense, “he explained.
Regarding whether to implement it or not, Anwar, who is also one of the chairmen of PP Muhammadiyah, admits that it is not easy because there are 39 people in the leadership with different thoughts.
“If I cannot fulfill that sacred and noble duty, why do I continue to occupy that position and position? Because it will only make me suffer more and more misery not only in this world but also in the hereafter and I don’t want that to happen,” the lid.
It is known that the new MUI management as a result of the 10th National Conference expelled a number of parties affiliated with the government’s opposition Islamic organizations, especially the 212 Alumni Brotherhood (PA), the National Movement of Ulama Fatwa Guards (GNPF -U), to the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE).
Among them are Din Syamsuddin, Yusuf Martak, Bachtiar Nasir, and Tengku Zulkarnain.
The political observer from the University of Al-Azhar Indonesia, Ujang Komarudin, assessed that Ma’ruf Amin’s dominance and strength in MUI was very obvious. He suspected that there was a strong suspicion of government interference in the ulama umbrella.
“You could say that there was some kind of interference because Ma’ruf Amin is the vice president. Of course the government wants the ulama council to be under control. So that their criticisms are lost and can be controlled,” Ujang told CNNIndonesia.com, Friday (11/27).
