JAKARTA – The results of the X National Conference of the Ulema Council of Indonesia (MUI) determined KH Miftachul Akhyar as MUI’s General President for the period 2020-2025.
Miftachul Akhyar is the manager of the Miftachus Sunnah Islamic boarding school in Surabaya. He is one of the charismatic scholars of East Java.
Rais Aam, General Manager of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) served as General President of MUI replacing KH Ma’ruf Amin, who is currently the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) and the Board of Consideration of MUI.
Kiai Miftah is a scholar who has worked at the UN from a young age. He is the son of KH Abdul Ghoni’s Tahsinul Akhlaq Rangkah Islamic boarding school. It was recorded that he had served as Rais Syuriyah PCNU Surabaya, Rais Syuriah East Java, to Deputy Rais Aam PBNU.
Kiai Miftah has also been registered as a student at Tambak Beras Islamic Boarding School, Sidogiri Islamic Boarding School, and Lasem Islamic Boarding School, Central Java.

The man who was born on January 1, 1953 was also the Ta’lim Council of Sayyid Muhammad bin Alawi Al-Makki Al-Maliki in Malang, to be precise when Sayyid Muhammad was still teaching in Indonesia.
Kiai Miftah is also one of the academics who asked the National Police to arrest Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok for the blasphemy case. However, he appealed to the residents of Nahdliyin not to take part in the Action to Defend Islam 212 because the police had handled the case.
