Argentina recently lost one of its best sons, Diego Maradona. The Argentine government has set three days of national mourning.

Diego Maradona passed away on Wednesday (11/25/2020) evening WIB. The Argentine soccer legend breathed his last due to cardiac arrest.

There is no denying Maradona’s status as Argentina’s best son on the grid. He led the Argentine team to win the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

Maradona scored five goals in the tournament, became Argentina’s top scorer and only lost powerfully to English striker Gary Lineker in the championship. In that tournament, the world saw the magic of Maradona when he scored a beautiful goal against five English players and goalkeepers.

From the same match, Maradona earned the nickname ‘The Hand of God’ after scoring a goal with his hand against Peter Shilton’s goal. The 1986 World Cup title is the last World Cup that Argentina can win.

As a tribute to Diego Maradona, the Argentine government declared three days of national mourning. Argentine President Alberto Fernández even immediately uploaded a photo with Maradona.

“You took us to the highest place in the world. You made us extraordinarily happy. You are the best of all. Thank you for coming, Diego. We will miss you for the rest of our lives,” the Argentine president wrote.
