The contributions of BPJS Health will be adjusted according to the standard class to be implemented in 2022. Currently, the government is designing a national health insurance (JKN) based on basic health needs (KDK), where classes 1, 2 and 3 for existing independent participants combined into one.

Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto has indicated that the program will affect the amount of contributions from BPJS Health. However, he did not explain how much the fees will apply.

“The standard class will have consequences for changes in the size of contributions to the JKN program. The preparation of JKN contributions in the context of adjusting contributions is coordinated with DJSN considering the contributions of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health and BPJS Health, “Terawan said in a joint meeting with Commission IX DPR RI, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday. (11/24/2020).

Changes in BPJS Health contributions are not the first time this has happened. Finally, the enrollment was modified on July 1, 2020, then for classes I and II, which experienced an increase. This is established in Presidential Decree Number 64 of 2020 relative to the Second Amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2018 regarding Health Insurance.

Meanwhile, the BPJS Health Class III premium remains the same this year. The Class III class will only increase next year. The following is a breakdown of current BPJS Health contributions:

– Independent Class I or PBPU and BP participants at Rs 150,000 per person per month, an increase of 85.18%.
– Class II becomes 100,000 IDR per person per month or an increase of 96.07%.
– Class III is still Rs 25,500 per person per month (next year it will be Rs 35,000).

Later on, the above class types will be changed to standard classes and will only be divided into two, namely the Contribution Assistance Recipient (PBI) classes and non-PBI classes. For PBI class, a maximum of 6 beds will be provided in a hospital setting, while non-PBIs will only provide a maximum of 4 beds.

The BPJS Health contribution determination principle will change considering KDK compliance, standard class hospitalization, ability to pay, health inflation, and improved governance of JKN.
