KOMPAS.com- An 8-year-old boy in Nunukan was reported to have committed acts of robbery up to 23 times, with millions of rupees stolen.

The child suspected of being kleptomania had the initials B.

I was so naughty that the rehab center stopped handling it. Apparently, there is a heartbreaking story behind B.’s unreasonable mischievous attitude.

Returned for rehabilitation

Because he was 8 years old, B received different treatment from the authorities.

The Nunukan district government is trying to rehabilitate B so that his attitude can improve.

At the end of December 2019, the Nunukan Regency Government through Dinsos sent him to the Social Rehabilitation Center in Bambu Apus Jakarta.

However, after only 6 months of career, the rehab center sent him home due to B’s delinquency which was deemed out of reason.

Whereas six months is usually enough time to handle someone.

Social Service Secretary Yaksi Belaning Pratiwi said that B during his rehabilitation showed no signs of improvement.

Even at the rehab center, B even stole a bicycle.

“At Bambu Apus, he even stole people’s bicycles, stole money from his coach and bought cigarettes and distributed them to friends there and many other shenanigans. The bad boys who were about to recover there were ported again wrong with B, so then sent home, “said Yaksi, on Thursday (11/19/2020).

Take drugs since childhood

I don’t know what made B so naughty. However, family conditions can be a contributing factor.

Shocking data revealed by Yaksi. According to data from social workers (Peksos), father B used to mix shabu-shabu with B’s milk since he was 2 months old.

“The reason is not to be fussy. It alters the mentality of the child,” he said.

Maybe that’s what makes B painless and courageous.

His father is still in prison for being caught in a drug case.

Meanwhile, the mother is unable to care for her son because she concentrates on working as a seaweed labor force.

Steal for drugs

B himself has stolen many times. The proceeds are used, among other things, to buy drugs, such as gorilla or synthetic tobacco.

But most of the time, the loot is shared with your friends.

Nunukan City Police noted that there were 23 robbery cases allegedly involving B.

The stolen proceeds were less than 10 million rupees. One of his actions, he stole Rp 3 million in a piggy bank.

Usually he shoplifted when the guards were off guard.

When caught, in a unique way, B always honestly admitted his actions.

“He never lied, everything answered sincerely, only that it was kleptomania and he could not get rid of his bad habits. This is our confusion, on the one hand we cannot put them in custody, on the other hand if we let them go free, society is restless, us confused what to do? “said Kapolsek Nunukan Iptu Randya Shaktika.

Treated with conscience

Seeing this phenomenon, the police chief assessed that the child could not be handled in the usual way.

“We use our conscience, what can we do with an 8-year-old? This is a phenomenon that needs a joint solution, this can be said to be simultaneous because it is impossible for us to stop an 8-year-old child, but if we let him go, at most two days later there will be more. the robbery report came in and he was the culprit, “he said.

However, he was concerned that leaving him with other children would convey his ugliness.

“Children of that age certainly need to play, but unfortunately we are afraid of passing on their bad habits to their peers, we are worried that another B will appear later because it will have a negative impact on other children. Like Bambu Apus has given up, how we do?” he said.

The police also work between institutions so that B becomes a normal human being.

Plan B will be sent to the drug rehab center early next year.
