JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Finance Minister (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the importance of the availability of the Covid-19 vaccine to the whole world to foster economic recovery. Without a vaccine, the pandemic will continue and affect the economy.

Therefore, access to vaccines is one of the focuses of discussion at this year’s G20 Summit (Summit) that was held virtually by Saudi Arabia on Saturday and Sunday (November 21-22, 2020).

“Access to vaccines is important, because there will be no economic recovery around the world until all countries have access to vaccines,” Sri Mulyani said at a press conference after attending the G20 Summit, cited on Sunday ( 11/22/2020).

He explained that in the meeting there were two sources of discussion, namely finance track Y Sherpa Track. Focus on finance track These are efforts to recover the economy due to the pandemic, including the financing of vaccines, which of course consume enormous resources.

So in this case it is discussed how countries around the world, especially developing countries, can have access to the Covid-19 vaccine.

“This is where the role of multilateral institutions is very important, how they can provide financial support to developing or poor countries, so that everyone gets vaccinated,” he explained.

Sri Mulyani said, at the meeting between the finance ministers of the G20 countries, it was recognized that the pandemic had had a tremendous impact on the economy of all countries. So a joint effort is needed to manage Covid-19 for the economy to recover again.

“Covid-19 has caused a very, very extraordinary impact in several countries. Therefore, all countries carry out policies together to deal with Covid-19 and control the recovery of the economy,” he explained.
