JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – About 20 volunteers from the Covid-19 Working Group gathered in front of The Media and Towers Hotel, in central Jakarta, on Thursday (11/19/2020).
In front of the hotel, which used to be the center of the activity of the volunteers, an action was carried out to remove vests and identification cards as a form of resignation as volunteers.
They resigned because they were outraged by the movement of the Task Force that facilitated the crowd in the leader of the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI) Rizieq Shihab by handing over masks and gel alcohol.

“The provision of 20,000 masks and hand sanitizers resulted in protests, including from volunteers. The event should have been organized according to health protocols, rather than donating as many masks,” said Abdul Mufid, one of the volunteers, reading a release.
Abdul said the Covid-19 Task Force’s decision to donate masks and hand sanitizers could mean that the Task Force supported the activities of the crowd at FPI headquarters. This also hurts the feelings of the volunteers who have been working hard so far.
“The actions taken have hurt the business we have built over the past eight months,” Abdul said.

Abdul also declared a motion of no confidence on the leadership of the Covid-19 Food Task Force and its staff. Therefore, Abdul and his colleagues decided to resign as volunteers.
“We, the Covid-19 Management Working Group Volunteers, will remain committed to continuing humanitarian activities as Covid-19 Prevention Volunteers in our respective institutions and methods,” Abdul said.
In addition to resigning, they also demanded that Doni Monardo resign from the position of Head of the Covid-19 Management Working Group.
