President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded local governments that they must implement the Regional Regulation on the Application of Health Protocols indiscriminately. Jokowi emphasized the assertiveness of the government in enforcing the law for violators.
I remind you that for the regions that already have Disciplinary Compliance Regulations for the Health Protocol, that they really implement it in a firm, consistent and indiscriminate manner. Once again, the government’s job is to take legal action, and the firmness of the apparatus to discipline the public towards health protocols is imperative. A necessity, “Jokowi said in a limited meeting on COVID-19 management and national economic recovery, quoted from the official website of the presidency, on Monday (11/16/2020).
Jokowi cautioned that public confidence in the government to control COVID-19 is important. Jokowi doesn’t want regional chiefs to not set an example and join the crowd.
“For the control of COVID-19 to be effective, you need trust, you need the public’s trust in what the government is doing. I also ask the Minister of the Interior to remember, if necessary, reprimand the regional head, both to the governor, like the regent and the mayor, in order to provide good examples for the community, don’t even join the crowd, “Jokowi said.
Amid the pandemic, repeated calls have been made to keep distance and not crowd the crowd. This is intended to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
“In handling COVID-19, I would like to emphasize that the safety of the people is the highest law. And during the pandemic we have decided on social restrictions, including dispersal of crowds,” Jokowi said.
