Italy opens up the opportunity to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League. In the fifth match of Group A1, Gli Azzurri managed to topple Poland 2-0.
At the Mapei Stadium, on Monday morning (11/16/2020) WIB, Italy had the first chance in the 6th minute through Andrea Belotti, but the Torino attacker’s kick was still fired.
A minute later, Federico Bernardeschi shot from far away, but Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny managed to block it.
Italy received a penalty in the 26th minute, after a foul by Grzegorz Krychowiak that knocked Belotti’s shirt into the forbidden area. Jorginho advanced as a kicker and successfully passed Szczesny. Gli Azzurri leads 1-0.

By winning a goal, Italy keeps trying to pressure. Belotti had another chance after receiving a pass from Lorenzo Insigne in the 35th minute, but his volley still went off. During the first half of injury time, it was a header from Francesco Acerbi that failed to produce a goal.
The first half ended 1-0 for Italy.
In the second half, Poland couldn’t escape the pressure. Nicolo Barella threatened Szczesny’s goal in the 49th minute, but his shot remained wide. Ten minutes later, Szczesny easily secured Insigne’s long-range shot.
In the 66th minute, Domenico Berardi also had a chance, but his shot was unsuccessful.
Disasters present for Poland in the 77th minute. Jacek Goralski, who previously received a yellow card in the 62nd minute for violating Belotti, received another yellow card, again for violating Belotti. Poland also had to play with 10 people.
Superior number of players, Italy continues to attack. As a result, they added another goal in the 83rd minute. Berardi received a great pass from Insigne and scored at his team’s stadium, Sassuolo. He shot with his left foot and managed to beat Szczesny.

In the remaining matches, the two teams failed to score goals. Italy closed the match with a 2-0 victory.
This achievement brought Italy to the top of Group A1 with 9 points from 5 matches and increased their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Poland fell to third place with 7 points.
