Lewis Hamilton became the 2020 Formula 1 world champion, followed by Joan Mir, who became the 2020 MotoGP world champion. They both secured the title on the same day.

On Sunday (11/15/2020), F1 celebrated the 14th series of this season with the Turkish Grand Prix title. At the Istanbul Park Circuit, Hamilton won his 10th victory this season. The result made the Mercedes rider accumulate 307 points.

With three series remaining, Hamilton’s accumulation of points can no longer be pursued by his closest competitor and teammate, Valtteri Bottas, who has only accumulated 197 points and only finished 14 this time, following a spin he experienced at start of the race.

Hamilton was also confirmed as world champion this season, as well as being seventh in his career since making his F1 debut in 2007.

Besides F1, MotoGP has also found a world champion today. Joan Mir, who drives a Suzuki motorcycle, has won the MotoGP world title for the first time in his career.

In the Valencia MotoGP held at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Franco Morbidelli was the winner. Meanwhile, Mir only finished seventh.

Even so, 9 additional points were enough that he could not be pursued again. Morbidelli’s victory only put him in second place with 142 points, while Mir has accumulated 171 points with one draw remaining.

Thus, Mir officially became world champion this season, accompanying Hamilton, who had closed the title a few hours earlier. Congratulations to both of you!
