BOLASPORT.COM – Joan Mir’s success in winning the 2020 MotoGP world title helped him enter the same group of world elite riders, including the living legend, Valentino Rossi.

Joan Mir was confirmed this season as world champion of the premier class after finishing seventh in the Valencia MotoGP race that took place at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia, Spain, on Sunday (11/15/2020) WIB afternoon.

An additional 9 points are enough to solidify Mir’s position at the top of the standings regardless of the results that emerged in the last race, MotoGP Portugal 2020.

Because, currently Mir already has 171 points, 29 points ahead of Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT) who ranks second in the drivers’ standings.

The point difference can no longer be chased because the 2020 MotoGP world championship leaves only one more race series, namely the Portuguese MotoGP at the Portimao circuit next weekend.

With the latest maximum points up for grabs at just 25, the result of not finishing Mir in the next race will not affect his position in the drivers standings.

Following the success of winning the 2020 MotoGP world title, Joan Mir is now in an elite group entitled the youngest rider to become the premier class world champion.

Mir is now in seventh place in this elite group because he managed to become world champion at the age of 23 years and 75 days.
