Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The president of the United States, Donald Trump, who is almost certain that he will not occupy the White House in the next term, continues to question the validity of the process of counting the votes of the presidential elections in several states.
Trump has also been urged by supporters of his party, namely the Republican, not to give up even though there has been no evidence of fraud or accusations of fraud he has made so far.
This also invites comments from supporters of Trump’s rival, Joe Biden, who is the former president of the United States, Barack Obama. Obama criticized Republican officials for allowing Trump’s false claims to continue.
In an interview with CBS on Thursday (12/11/2020), Obama said that such false accusations and claims could harm American democracy.
“They seem motivated, in part, because the president doesn’t like to lose and never admits losses,” Obama told CBS, according to CNN.
The conspiracy theory regarding Trump’s coup against President-elect Joe Biden has certainly surfaced in the public. Some think Trump is now devising a strategy to prevent his political rivals from advancing to the White House.
This comes after Trump fired Mark Esper as US Secretary of Defense and head of the Pentagon earlier this week. He replaced him and filled the Pentagon with loyal supporters.
The Secretary of Defense post is now headed by Christopher Charles Miller. He, formerly director of the National Center Against Terrorism, was labeled a hardline Trump loyalist.
“In the last 24 hours, the Secretary of Defense, the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, and the Undersecretary of Defense of Intel have been fired … Why?” tweeted Alexander Vindman, a retired military officer and former White House staff member who was fired after testifying against Trump during the 2019 impeachment trial.
The alarm was also raised when Trump’s attorney general, Bill Barr, authorized federal prosecutors to join Trump’s search for election irregularities.
Additionally, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also rejected Biden’s victory. He said the administration was preparing for Trump’s second term.
“There will be a smooth transition to the second Trump administration,” Pompeo said at a news conference.
On the other hand, there are theories that argue differently. Trump is simply reluctant to leave the stage as he is happy to be the center of many people’s attention, where he garners 72 million votes and a large and loyal fan base.
