Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Chief of Police Candidate standing out again before the public ahead of the Chief of the National Police Idham Azis | retire in early 2021. The names of potential police generals were again echoed to the public through a series of predictions and observations.

Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) predicts that there will be a host of changes in the National Police in the near future that will change the position of Inspector General (Irjen) to become Commissioner General (Komjen).

According to the chairman of the IPW Presidium, Neta S. Pane, the change in position will affect the next National Police Stock Exchange to replace Idham Azis.

“Officers who have been promoted to three stars will certainly be included in the market for police chief candidates to replace Idham Azis,” Neta said in an official statement on Thursday (11/12).

In the period from November to January 2021, Neta said, there will be at least three Komjen, eight Irjen and 19 Brigjen who will retire.

He said the three retiring three-star generals are BNN Chief Komjen Heru Winarko; The Secretary General of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Komjen Antam Novambar; and Lemhanas Chief Secretary Komjen Widjarnardi.

According to him, the position will be filled by three high-ranking officers with the rank of Inspector General who will be appointed to the General Commissioner. Those referred to as Neta are the Chief of Police of Metro Jaya, Inspector General Nana Sudjana; Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Lutfhi; and the Chief Inspector General of East Java Police, M. Fadil.

“With the change from several two-star generals to three-star generals, the police chief candidate to replace Idham Azis will be even more agitated,” he said.

Unlike the IPW case, the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) is still tracking the track record of high ranking officers (Pati) Polri who have the potential and qualify to replace Idham Azis.

Kompolnas, has the authority to advise and propose the names of the candidates for Chief of the National Police to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

“Kompolnas continually monitors and tracks the records of high-ranking Polri officers who are potential and meet the requirements so that when they are asked to send the material it is ready,” said Inspector General (retired) Benny J Mamoto, president of Kompolnas Daily, to CNNIndonesia.com.

According to him, so far his party is still “sorting” names of possible generals to replace Idham Azis when he retires.

Subsequently, Benny said, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, who is also the President of the National Police Commission, will request a report on the results of the background tracing of the candidates before the proper diligence in the DPR.

“The transfer to the president also takes into account the deadline for the suitability test in the DPR so that it does not pass,” he said.

In the enthusiasm of the market for candidates for Chief of the National Police, the Headquarters of the National Police emphasized that the appointment of a new Chief of the National Police is the exclusive prerogative of the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

However, the head of the Police Public Information Office (Karopenmas), Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, said that he respects opinions outside the institution regarding the exchange of candidates for chief of police.

“Let’s wait for the decision together, of course the president will determine it in due course,” Awi said.

General Pol Idham Azis will enter his retirement period in January next year because he is 58 years old.

Throughout his career in the police force, Idham has been involved primarily in the field of investigation. Before being appointed Chief of Police to replace Tito Karnavian, he served as Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the National Police (Kabareskrim).

RI PDR Commission III approved his nomination as Chief of the National Police after a fit test in October 2019. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially appointed him as Chief of Police at the State Palace on 1 November 2019.
