The president of the United States (USA), Donald Trump closed the door to access the presidential daily intelligence information. President-elect Joe Biden was unable to access this important information.
Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford of the Republican Party said he would intervene if the Trump administration, which also does not allow Biden, had access to the information.
As reported CNN, Thursday (12/11/2020), daily presidential intelligence information is one of the first rights of an elected president of the United States after winning the presidential election. Biden is known to have received no daily intelligence reports from the Trump administration so far.
Lankford said in a statement that if Biden had not been able to access the intelligence information by the end of this week, he would intervene.
“It wouldn’t hurt if he was informed and could do that,” Lankford told local radio KRMG, emphasizing that he was a member of the US Senate Oversight Committee and was ready to intervene on the matter.
Furthermore, Lankford stated that if there was no progress as of Friday (11/13) local time, he would intervene. “This has to happen so that regardless of the outcome of the presidential election, whatever direction it takes, people can be ready for their real tasks,” he said.
Lankford’s statement came after Biden and his senior advisers had not yet received the president’s daily summary or top-secret intelligence report on national security issues offered by his predecessor on a daily basis.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) on Monday (September 11) local time stated that the lack of access to Biden was due to the results of the presidential elections that had not been confirmed by the Public Services Administration ( GSA), a clear indication that Biden’s transition team was not receiving proper guidance. just as an elected president would normally do.
