Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Politician of the Indonesian Democratic Struggle Party (PDIP) Arteria Dahlan declared that reconciliation is no longer necessary, as officials from the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) claim Rizieq Shihab.
According to Arteria, at this time all the communities are united and are no longer fortified.
“I think there is no need for reconciliation because now it is fine, everything is one, there are no longer people,” Arteria told CNN Indonesia.with, Thursday (11/12).
He admits that he respects Rizieq’s attitude by opening up to reconciliation with the government. However, the member of Commission III DPR RI recalled that the government could not intervene in the ongoing legal process against a series of figures as requested by Rizieq.
Previously, Rizieq asked Habib Bahar bin Smith, Jumhur Hidayat and Abu Bakar Baasyir to be released.
“We respect their attitude of being willing to open up and open spaces, but the problem is that this country is a rule of law, so reconciliation will only use legal channels,” Arteria said.
PKS seeks government response
On the other hand, the politician of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Mardani Ali Sera, asked the government to respond to Rizieq’s willingness to carry out reconciliation.
According to him, the government should create a harmonious atmosphere in the community in the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Reconciliation is expensive. He [Rizieq] ready for reconciliation. What is the content of reconciliation? It is easy to reach an agreement if there is already communication. Come on, the government, in a pandemic condition, we are all united and trusting each other, ”he said.
Mardani added that the post-2019 reconciliation has not occurred even though Gerindra has joined the current political party that supports the government.
According to Mardani, Gerindra’s union, which later made Prabowo Subianto Minister of Defense (Menhan), was a strengthening of the coalition, not a reconciliation.
“It is not reconciliation. But the strengthening of the coalition. At the base, reconciliation is needed,” Mardani said.
Earlier, Rizieq said that his party was ready to reconcile with the government. Rizieq also urged to open the door to dialogue to discuss the reconciliation plan.
“How can reconciliation be carried out if the door to dialogue is not opened? Open the door to dialogue first, then reconciliation can be. There is no reconciliation without dialogue, dialogue is important,” said Rizieq quoted from a video on the YouTube channel FrontTV, on Wednesday (11/11).
Rizieq admitted that he had offered a dialogue with the government when he held a tabligh akbar before the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada. According to him, at that time his party was willing to talk at any time if the government was willing to sit down with the Habaib and the ulama.
“But what response did we receive? The response we received was not that the door was opened to dialogue, not to reconciliation, but rather that what we obtained was the criminalization of the ulama,” he said.
This time, Rizieq is once again ready to talk with the government. However, it provided conditions for the government to stop the criminalization of the ulama, free activists and students who were detained for expressing opinions.
