JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan reportedly met with Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab and was invited for tea at his residence in the Petamburan area of central Jakarta on the evening Tuesday (10/11/2020).
The Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Tengku Zulkarnain when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday (11/11/2020) morning, confirmed Anies’s meeting with Rizieq after Isya’s prayer.
The meeting of the governor of DKI Jakarta with the leaders of the FPI was also known through the uploading of photos to the social media accounts of Instagram.
In the uploaded photo titled “The Meeting of the Four Friends”, Anies Baswedan is seen sitting on the far left, Rizieq Shihab on the right, followed by Tengku and Hanif Al-Athos (Rizieq’s son-in-law) sitting on the rightmost.

Tengku admitted that Anies and Rizieq stopped missing each other while drinking tea and there was no discussion leading to political elements.

The reason was, he said, that Anies did not want to upset Rizieq, who was probably still tired after returning from a long eight-hour drive from Saudi Arabia to Jakarta plus from the airport to his residence for about six hours.
