Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD asked the police not to overreact to anticipate the return of the High Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab expected to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta airport on Tuesday (11/10).
He said it would be better if the police saw Rizieq’s return as normal so that there would be no need for excessive security.
“Just because there is an escalation of people picking up, yes, the guard should also be improved. But do not overdo it,” Mahfud said in a video statement received. CNNIndonesia.com, Monday (September 11).
He reminded the police not to take repressive action against the masses who picked Rizieq from the airport to his residence.
“There must be no repressive actions. Everything must be properly guarded. Until Habib Rizieq arrives at the residence in a proper and safe manner,” said Mahfud.
On that occasion, Mahfud said that Rizieq’s return was the full right of the cleric as a citizen. Rizieq has the same legal rights and obligations as any other citizen.
Therefore, according to Mahfud, Rizieq’s return was common as well as other neighbors who should also be protected.
“Before, when we left, we gave them the right to leave, not because we asked to leave. Now we want to go home, we give them the right to go home, because they are citizens whose rights must be protected, “he said.
Mahfud also mentioned Rizieq’s intention to return home, which is often linked to the moral revolution.
According to him, the moral revolution should be good. Therefore, he asked all parties to receive Rizieq’s return in an orderly manner.
“Please collect, but in an orderly, harmonious and peaceful manner, as recommended by Habib Rizieq,” Mahfud said.
He also recalled again, if in the van later someone would actually make or cause a scene, then the person is for sure not a follower of Rizieq.
“If Habib Rizieq’s supporters are definitely the ones doing well, he must be a revolutionary ahklak,” Mahfud said.
Regarding Rizieq’s plan to return home after three years, FPI previously said that it had arranged for the pick-up at Soetta Airport.
On the other hand, the police stated that they had not prepared special safeguards related to the capture of the leader of the FPI.
Several activity plans have been drawn up after his return. Rizieq explained a series of activities that he will carry out upon his arrival in Indonesia.
After landing, Rizieq said he would go directly to his private residence in the Petamburan area of central Jakarta.
At his residence, Rizieq and his family will rest until Thursday (11/12). Welcome parties who wish to visit your home.
Kodam Jaya’s Response
The Jaya Regional Military Command Commander, Major General Dudung Abdurachman, said the arrival of the FPI officers did not have to be exaggerated.
This was broadcast by Dudung during a visit to the Trans Media building on Monday (September 11). He said there were no special safeguards related to Rizieq’s plan to return.
“We are not exaggerating it, if we want a new demo, we will (anticipate) it,” Dudung said at the Trans Media Building.
He said police would anticipate security related to Rizieq’s arrival on Tuesday (11/10). The FPI leader is known to be scheduled to arrive at Soekarno Hatta airport at 10:00 WIB.
