Jakarta –
Daryono, the Lampung Badak goalkeeper who recently passed away, is very close to Persija Jakarta. Among the Jakmania, he is a figure of a “cult hero”.
The goalkeeper who was born on March 5, 1994 joined Persija Under-21 in 2012. A year later, he was immediately promoted to the senior team.
Sadly, the Semarang goalkeeper has a hard time competing with Andritany Ardhiyasa, who is actually one of the best goalkeepers in Indonesia. The minutes of playing Daryono in Persija are very limited by the figure of Andritany.
Quoted in Soccerway’s records, Daryono only defended Persija seven times in the official arena (Indonesian Super League-League 1) in a span of five years or in 2013-2018. Even so, he remained loyal to Persija.
Besides being with Persija, Daryono is also actively involved in herding with the Indonesian Navy (AL) team. It is understandable that Daryono is an active member of the Navy with the rank of Sertu.
Daryono is often absent from Persija’s defense due to his soccer activities with the Indonesian Navy. You could say that Daryono’s lack of playing opportunities was not just due to his competition with Andritany.
The lack of flight hours does not underestimate the quality of Daryono. He often showed off his skills under the bar when Persija trusted him to appear at matches. Not surprisingly, Persija also continues to grant him contract extensions.
Followers of Persija, The Jakmania, of course, also remember Daryono because he was involved in controversial matches. Daryono was hacked by Persela Lamongan’s player Diego Assis, who hit the ball with his hand.
The match took place in League 1 2018 when Persela Lamongan hosted Persija on May 20, 2018. At the time, Daryono was a Persija goalkeeper who vigorously protested against the ratification of the goal.
There was also an incident at the 2018 AFC Cup when Persija hosted Home United (now called Lion City Sailors) where Daryono vigorously protested to the referee. Despite only sitting on the bench, Daryono expressed his dissatisfaction with the referee’s leadership.
He protested so strongly that he was given a red card at the end of the first half of the match. Daryono then hit the fourth official table off the field after the referee sent him off.
The emotions Daryono expressed won the sympathy of The Jakmania. They also hailed Daryono as a hero because they felt their voices were represented by the goalkeeper.
Daryono’s emotional action eventually led the AFC to ban him from appearing on the Asian stage for six months. However, for The Jakmania, Daryono is considered a ‘cult hero’ after showing how much love the goalkeeper has for Persija.
Goodbye Daryono.
