China rejects Congratulations to Joe Biden, why?

The Chinese government refused to congratulate Joe Biden on winning the US presidential election, saying the result of the vote had not yet been determined.

While incumbent Donald Trump has not given up and initiated various lawsuits, many world leaders congratulated Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris after Democrats were declared winners over the weekend. The celebrations were spontaneous in American cities.

As reported by the news agency AFPOn Monday (September 11, 2020), Trump’s four years in the White House have been marked by a trade war and increasingly cold relations with China. The two powers are debating on various fronts, from accusations about the Corona virus pandemic to Beijing’s human rights record in Xinjiang and Hong Kong.

China, among a handful of major powers, including Russia and Mexico, which has yet to congratulate Biden, said Monday that it had “noticed that Biden declared himself the winner of the election.”

“We understand that the election results will be determined in accordance with the laws and procedures of the United States,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told reporters at a regular meeting, as reported. AFP.

Wang continued to refuse to acknowledge Biden’s victory despite repeated questions from reporters.

Earlier, Trump had refused to admit defeat to Biden. In a teaser on Twitter, he lamented: “Since when did Media Lamestream determine who our next president will be?”
