The long wait for Joan Mir also ended. The Suzuki Ecstar rider can finally taste victory in MotoGP 2020. Great!

Mir conquered the race in the European MotoGP that was held at the Riccardo Tormo circuit, on Sunday (11/8/2020) in the WIB afternoon. Mir managed to become the first runner to cross the finish line. He was about 0.6 seconds ahead of Rins, who finished second.

Although Mir “only” started from fifth position, he had been accelerating since the first lap. He continued to follow his teammate Alex Rins until he overtook on lap 11 to hold pole position until the end of the race.

After crossing the finish line, Mir looked very excited. This is understandably his first MotoGP victory this season, as well as answering questions about him as the current leader.

Because, before the European MotoGP series, Mir could top the standings without even winning. Mir has a maximum of three runner-up podiums and three third podiums, including in the previous Teruel MotoGP series.

Now Mir can pat himself on the chest for his first win after being promoted to MotoGP last year. Even if he succeeds in becoming a MotoGP world champion, Mir’s eligibility will no longer be in question.

“This is what I was waiting for,” Mir said after the race as quoted. BT Sport.

Joan Mir is the ninth winner in MotoGP 2020 while increasing his chances of becoming world champion. Mir is now the leader of the standings with 162 points, 37 points ahead of Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins in second and third position.

With the season leaving two more series, Mir could secure the world title at Valencia MotoGP next week.
