KOMPAS.com – Joan Mir (Suzuki Ecstar) managed to become the fastest rider in the European MotoGP series on Sunday (11/8/2020) afternoon WIB at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit.

Joan Mir’s victory on reaching the main podium is the first time the 2020 MotoGP title has been contested.

Furthermore, Joan Mir confirmed his position in the 2020 MotoGP classification as leader. After racing at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Joan Mir accumulated 162 points.

Joan Mir’s points are 27 points behind Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) and Alex Rins (Suzuki Ecstar) who are second and third, both with 125 points.

Joan Mir’s colleague Alex Rins also took the MotoGP European podium by finishing second.

These results show that Suzuki triumphed at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit and a bad sign for its competitors at the Valencia MotoGP next week.

European MotoGP races:

Pol Espargaró (Red Bull KTM) got off to a good start. He is able to maintain pole position status as the temporary leader of the line.

Not in the first lap, disaster came to Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT). The man nicknamed El Diablo fell at Turn 8 (T8) with Aleix Espargaró.

The duo Suzuki Ecstar, Joan Mir and Alex Rins, followed Pol Espargaró, who was in first place.

Alex Rins managed to take pole position on the second lap.

Two laps later, Joan Mir also managed to overtake Pol Espargaró and finished second behind his teammate, Alex Rins.

Other Yamaha riders seem to be unlucky, like Valentino Rossi (Monster Energy Yamaha).

He seemed to be having trouble with his motorcycle and had stopped in the middle of the track.

The top three positions, Alex Rins (1), Joan Mir (2) and Pol Espargaró (3), did not change much until the middle of the race.

The three leading drivers made a gap with the driver in fourth position with a distance of almost 2 minutes.

Joan Mir managed to turn his teammate on lap 17 and immediately made a distance of 0.330 seconds.

Going into the last four laps, Alex Márquez (Repsol Honda) slipped at Turn 1 (T1). He couldn’t keep running and couldn’t finish

Joan Mir, who was leading, continued to widen the gap with Alex Rins.

On lap 35 of 37, the distance between Joan Mir and Alex Rins was around 1,250 seconds.

This distance is certainly very difficult for Alex Rins to overcome. In this way, Joan Mir reaches the main podium for the first time.

Joan Mir became the 10th rider to win the main podium during the 2020 MotoGP event.
