Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The election of the President of the United States (Pilpres US) is over. Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. and Kamala Devi Harris of the Democratic Party won the presidential election based on the results of the ballots and electoral votes.

The two defeated incumbents Donald John Trump and Republican Michael Richard Pence by 290 to 214 electoral votes on Sunday morning (11/8/2020). Biden also obtained a total vote of 75,193,022 (50.6%) with Trump 70,804,968 (47.7%) according to data from The Associated Press.

So how did Biden finally beat Trump with a landslide in this presidential election?

Biden’s leadership is the opposite of Trump’s. During the 4 years of US leadership, Trump was considered the most incompetent in his job at the White House. He is seen as breaking the union by leading a chaotic government.

Meanwhile, in his campaign, Biden promised to return politics to normal and the spirit of national unity to face the economic crisis caused by the corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic that has infected more than 10 million people. and has killed 243,257 US citizens.

Biden also took on Harris, who is a minority in the US Harris made history by becoming the first Asian-African woman to hold the position of Vice President of the United States. Harris has become an icon for minorities in the United States who are often denied their rights as American citizens.

Biden’s approach, which is very different from that of Trump and people thirsty for change, is what makes most of them prefer Biden to occupy the seat of the 46th president of the United States.

At the heart of Biden’s candidacy is professionalism at work, which is often looked down upon in presidential politics. It can be said that Biden is a true politician, because he prefers political negotiations that promote pluralism. This is what distinguishes him from Trump.

Biden’s politics is not about what he believes in, but about finding common ground in what he believes, what he believes the state believes, and what the people believe they need to win. This is what makes Biden a necessary figure in the community.

In his victory speech, Biden claimed the presidency and asked the country to rally after defeating toxic politics.

“That this grim era of demonization in America begins to end here and now,” he said in the city of Wilmington, Delaware, as quoted by the New York Times.

Biden said he spoke directly to Trump supporters and said he acknowledged their disappointment. “I’ve lost several times myself,” he said, recalling his past failures to win the presidency.

“Now we are going to give ourselves a chance,” he continued.

Biden’s victory, which comes 48 years after he was first elected to the United States Senate, sparked festive celebrations in several Democrat-favored cities. In Washington, many people celebrated Biden’s victory near the White House.

On the other hand, Trump did not accept defeat. He had insisted that “this election is far from over” and promised “to start taking our case to court”, without giving further details on how he will process it.
