Substitute Valentino Rossi on the first day of the 2020 European MotoGP, Garret Gerloff, Friday (11/6/2020)

BOLASPORT.COM – The replacement for Valentino Rossi on the first day of the 2020 European MotoGP, Garrett Gerloff, revealed his first impression after testing the Yamaha YZR-M1.

Garrett Gerloff had a valuable opportunity when Monster Energy Yamaha appointed him to replace Valentino Rossi.

Although in the end Garrett Gerloff only played two free practice sessions (FP) on the first day of the 2020 MotoGP European Championship, he gained a lot of experience.

With his experience as a GRT Yamaha rider at the World Superbike (WSBK) event, Garrett Gerloff is ranked 19th in the combined results of the first day of the 2020 European MotoGP.

Riding the YZR-M1 motorcycle, Garrett Gerloff recorded his best lap time during the first day of the 2020 European MotoGP with 1 minute 34.107 seconds.

After going through a series of sessions on Friday (6/11/202) at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia, Spain, the American driver expressed the impression he felt.

After running two FP sessions, Garrett Gerloff felt that the characteristics of the YZR-M1 were slightly different than the WSBK, that is, the Yamaha YZF-R1.

“The M1 is a bit of a superbike, the M1 is the base R1 but on a different level. However, the bike is still quite friendly to ride,” said Garrett Gerloff.
