Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla opened a story related to Rizal Ramli’s activities during the era of President SBY.
Jusuf Kalla (JK) told the story when Rizal Ramli conducted a ministerial search for the first term of SBY leadership in an interview with lead journalist Karni Ilyas on the Karni Ilyas Club YouTube channel on Friday (11/6 / 2020).
According to JK, during the first term of SBY’s leadership, Rizal had already lobbied in several places.
While lobbying both parties, Rizal raised the issue that he had been appointed Minister of Finance or Minister of BUMN.
This problem caused anxiety in several officials of the first echelon of the Ministry of Finance.
News of this anxiety reached JK. He said eleven officials from the Finance Ministry came to see him and expressed their displeasure if Rizal was serving as Finance Minister.
“Eleven officials from level one of the Ministry of Finance came here [kediaman JK]. At that time it was headed by Darmin Nasution in October 2004. They said that all the CEOs of the Finance Ministry would resign if Rizal Ramli became Finance Minister, ”said JK.
JK also asked the reason for the officials’ rejection. Darmin and his friends give two solid reasons.
“I asked him why he refused. They replied, first he [Rizal Ramli] I do not understand the problem. We are both considered zoos if he gets angry, ”said JK.
Then, JK transmitted the request for the first echelons of the Ministry of Finance to SBY.
JK continued his story, that at the last minute the cabinet would be drafted, SBY asked if there was a ministerial seat that was still empty. JK responded to that question by mentioning the position of Minister of Industry.
“So I called him [Rizal Ramli]. He had been waiting for it. When I told him that I was determined to become Minister of Industry, he said, ‘Wow, you’re a friend, but it’s not fair. I want the Minister of Finance or BUMN, ”JK continued.
In this interview with Karni Ilyas, JK denied having approached Rizal Ramli to become a ministerial candidate.
