Board of Trustees Vice President Gerindra Fadli Zon compared the government’s attitude towards the plan to return Habib Rizieq Syihab (HRS) with legal assistance to a sexual predator, Reynhard Sinaga. The coordinating minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud Md, responded to Fadli’s statement.
Initially, Fadli uploaded the news content about the comparison of the return of Habib Rizieq and Reynhard on his Twitter social media account. Mahfud then welcomed him while showing a video of Habib Rizieq who refused to be helped by the government.
The video uploaded by Mahfud in response to Fadli’s tweet was 18 seconds long. The video contains a statement from Habib Rizieq, who promises that he will not ask the Indonesian government for help to return to Indonesia. The video is also accompanied by the words “No need for help from the Indonesian government.”
“By Allah I swear, I will not ask the help of the tyrannical regime in Indonesia, let alone beg the tyrannical regime in Indonesia to lift my ban in Saudi Arabia,” Habib Rizieq said in a video uploaded to @mohmahfudmd as seen on Friday (11/6/2020).
In the same charge, Mahfud explained that he had tried to contact Habib Rizieq’s close friends since he was the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
“Pak Fadli Zon, in the beginning was the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. I tried to contact close friends of Rizieq. I mean, I will help if necessary,” Mahfud wrote.
