Al-Qaida threatens the French president Emmanuel macron As a result of his comments on Islam and mentioning the act of murder to the perpetrators of the insult to the Prophet Muhammad is a right of Muslims.
“Killing anyone who insults the Prophet is the right of each and every Muslim,” read the group’s statement under the acronym AQIM.
“A boycott is mandatory, but it is not enough,” the Al Qaeda statement continued.
Reported AFP, the jihadist group also threatened to respond to Macron’s comments offending Islam.
They also called Macron the president of France “young, inexperienced and small-brained” and called him “offending the Prophet” on purpose.
French President Emmanuel Macron has previously commented on Islam and defended the publication of the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad by Charlie Hebdo magazine in the name of freedom of expression.
On Friday (10/23), Macron said that Islam is “a religion that is experiencing a world crisis.” He issued this statement after the beheading incident of the history teacher, Samuel Paty, by Abdoullakh Abouyezidovitch (18). The incident was triggered by a discussion about the cartoon of Prophet Muhammad in his class.
Macron in his speech also called for a campaign against radical Islamic groups.
However, the French president’s comments on Islam were considered offensive to Muslims and sparked anger and protests in various parts of the world.
One of the criticisms of Emmanuel Macron’s comments came from Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who also emphasized that one must fight to combat anti-Muslim sentiment.
“The fight must be fought today against anti-Muslim sentiment, just as the battle was fought against anti-Semitism after the Holocaust,” Erdogan was quoted as saying by Anadolu Agency.
President Joko Widodo also criticized Macron’s statement, which was seen as hurting the feelings of Muslims and sparking anger in various parts of the world.
“Indonesia strongly condemns the French president’s statement insulting Islam, which has hurt the feelings of Muslims around the world,” Jokowi said at a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Saturday (31 / 10).
