JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has been going on for exactly eight months today, Monday (11/2/2020).

However, there is no indication that transmission of the corona virus has decreased. This can be seen in the growing number of Covid-19 cases.

Government data as of Monday at 12 noon WIB shows that there have been 2,618 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The addition has brought the total number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia now to 415,402 people, as of the announcement of the first patient on March 2, 2020.

This information was transmitted by the Covid-19 Management Working Group through data received by journalists on Monday afternoon.

The patient recovered and died

In the eight months of the pandemic, hope has grown as more and more Covid-19 patients have recovered.

In one day, there are 3,624 additional Covid-19 patients who recover and are considered to be no longer infected with the corona virus.

They were declared cured according to the examination method. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) showing negative results for the corona virus.

Thus, the total number of Covid-19 patients who have recovered has reached 345,566 since the start of the pandemic.

However, there is still bad news with the addition of Covid-19 patients who have passed away.

In the period from November 1 to 2, 2020, 101 patients with Covid-19 died.

Thus, the death toll from Covid-19 during the eight months of the pandemic reached 14,044 people.

With this data, active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia have now reached 55,792 people.

In addition to the positive cases, there are also 59,500 people currently suspected.

Sample data

A total of 2,618 new cases of Covid-19 were discovered after the government examined 26,661 specimens per day.

During the same period, 20,146 individuals were sampled for sample examination.

This number of exams did not meet the target set by President Joko Widodo several months ago, that is, 30,000 tests per day.

So far, the government has examined 4,567,608 specimens versus 2,919,560 people sampled.

For the record, a person can have a sample test more than once.

Covid-19 cases have been recorded in all provinces of Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua.

In more detail, there have been 502 districts / cities in 34 provinces that recorded the transmission of the corona virus.

This means that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected more than 97 percent of the Indonesian territory.
