JAKARTA – Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) regretted the statement of Lieutenant General (Purn) Djamari Chaniago, who described the case of the beatings committed by members of the great motorcycle (moge) that he led against two TNI soldiers as a minor problem.

The chairman of the Indonesian Police Presidium, Neta S Pane, said Djamhari should have apologized to the community because members of his entourage had acted arbitrarily. Not only the general public on the streets, but also the TNI members who were beaten.
It should be noted that Djamari is one of the Indonesian military figures who has had quite a brilliant career in the Green Beret Corps. This retired three-star general was once entrusted with the Pangkostrad, a strategic position in the Indonesian army.
Born in Padang on April 8, 1949, Djamari was educated at the Magelang Military Academy (formerly Akabri), Central Java. He is abituren (graduate) 1971 from the infantry branch.

In its history, various positions have been filled by soldiers who spent many careers in the Green Beret Corps (Kostrad). Among other things, Djamari was appointed Commander of Airborne Infantry Battalion 330 / Tri Dharma, Commander of Kodim 0501 / Central Jakarta, and Chief of Staff of Airborne Brigadier 18 / Trisula.
When he was a colonel, he served as Commander of the 18th / Brigadier Trisula and Commander of Rindam I / Bukit Barisan. His career continued to escalate, earning a star when he was promoted to Chief of Staff of the 2nd Infantry / Kostrad Division.
Djamari is a figure with a brilliant career. He quickly achieved the rank of two-star general when he was assigned as Commander of the 2nd Infantry / Kostrad Division. It later assumed a strategic position as Pangdam III / Siliwangi.
Several military figures who shot at the top of the Army have worked in this military command. This also applies to Djamari.
The peak of his career when he was promoted to Pangkostrad. As is well known, Kostrad is part of the Indonesian Army Main Command (Kotama). Kostrad has a number of troops whose details are kept secret and they are always ready to operate under the command of the TNI Commander at any time.
