Ulema Council of Indonesia (MUI) called on Indonesian Muslims to boycott French products following the president’s statement Emmanuel macron about cartoons of the prophet Muhammad SAW. This boycott is considered a means of the people. Islam defending the honor of Prophet Muhammad.
The Secretary of the MUI Fatwa Commission, Asroroun Niam Soleh, said that respect for the Prophet is part of the faith of Muslims. Therefore, there is not the slightest room to humiliate and abuse the honor of Prophet Muhammad, even through caricatures.

Asrorun harshly criticized Macron’s statement. According to him, what Macron said was a form of harassment and insult to the sanctity of the Prophet Muhammad and Islam.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement drew criticism because it was seen as an insult to Islam. The situation in France has been heating up since the Charlie Hebdo tragedy in 2015 and has dragged on until 2020.

The incident was a reaction to the discussion about the cartoon of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
Faced with Macron’s statement, President Joko Widodo voiced criticism. According to Jokowi, Macron’s comments had hurt the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world and could break religious unity.
