MEKKAH, KOMPAS.com – A sedan broke into the grounds of the Great Mosque and hit Gate 89 on Friday night (10/30/2020) local time.
Video of the incident went viral on social media and no deaths were reportedly reported. Middle eastern eye.
In the video, the gray Hyundai sedan with a fairly high speed goes through two layers of plastic barricades in the courtyard outside the mosque, then bablas knocks on one of the mosque doors.

A driver crashed his car into gate 89 of the Grand Mosque in Mecca (Masjid al-Haram) at 22:25 pm Saudi Arabia time.

Saudi Arabia newspaper Sample proclaimed that no citizen was injured or killed in the accident.
Another video on social media showed people pushing the wrecked car out of the mosque compound.

Security officers responded immediately to the incident to ensure that all worshipers were safe from harm.

The driver is said to be a Saudi citizen. He has been arrested and secured for questioning.
The Great Mosque reopened for congregational prayers earlier this month, after being closed for 7 months to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
On Sunday (1/11/2020) Saudi Arabia will allow some foreigners to perform umrah in Mecca and Medina.
Umrah is normally followed by millions of worshipers around the world, but due to the corona virus outbreak, Saudi Arabia has opened its quota on a limited basis and has gradually increased.
