However, the announcement was not well received by all groups. One of them was Jon Jones, who felt that Khabib did not deserve the position. Furthermore, the one who was changed from the top position was himself!
Jon Jones, who is one of the best UFC champions, also challenged the emergence of an opinion on Khabib Nurmagomedov as the greatest of all time, also known as GOAT. According to Jones, the title was increasingly inappropriate.
“I’m talking to all the Khabib fans. Fifteen world titles compared to the four titles that belong to your idol. You’re kidding, right? Fifteen to four. Are you kidding?” Jon Jones said.
“The only person who could come back and challenge my record for what I did in the UFC is probably Georges St-Pierre. He has to come back and win two title fights to even me out,” he continued.
“And I haven’t even retired. I’m 33 years old, I’ve done all the parts. You guys are crazy too, I really love you all and have a nice day,” Jon Jones said at the time.
