The team from the Riau Regional Police Drug Investigation Directorate (Ditresnarkoba) was turned away by Pekanbaru Prison when they were about to investigate a prisoner suspected of controlling drugs. The problem was finally resolved after the head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Riau Ibnu Chuldun, contacted the Riau police chief, Inspector General Agung Setya.
The information about the Ditresnarkoba team of the Riau Police was rejected by the Pekanbaru Prison, initially transmitted by the Chief of Subdirectorate I of the Riau Police, AKBP Hardian Pratama when it was confirmed by detikcom, on Thursday (10/28 / 2020). The Riau police team was turned away on vacation.
“Yes, this afternoon we tried to investigate one of the inmates suspected of controlling drugs. However, our presence was rejected,” Hardian said.
He explained that his team came to check the prisoners with official documents. The letter is a notification that you will conduct a screening of inmates suspected of controlling drugs.
“We have an hour trying to lobby the officers there. We carried an official letter for the purpose of an investigation. However, our presence was rejected, due to no visits from the families of the inmates,” Hardian said.
Hadian found this excuse too far-fetched. Because when the team was there, it turned out that there was a woman visiting the prison. This means that even if it is a holiday, relatives of the prisoners can also enter.
“We know that the woman who got out of jail is the wife of a drug dealer we have arrested. At that time the evidence was 40 kg of crystalline methamphetamine,” Hardian said.
With the presence of Ditresnarkona Polda Riau being denied entry, Hardian said, convicts suspected of controlling drugs outside will lose evidence.
“If we are denied entry, of course, the prisoner will withdraw a series of evidence that he is suspected of being the controller. We tried to contact Pekanbaru’s boss via the phone line, but he did not respond,” Hardian said.
