Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Two people were killed in an attack outside a church in Nice, French, Thursday (29/10) morning local time, while several other people were injured.

Police said the perpetrator was attacked with a knife, one victim died from being beheaded.

“The situation is now under control,” said police spokeswoman Florence Gavello. AFP.

The alleged perpetrators were immediately arrested shortly after the attack by security forces at around 9:00 am.

Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi said on Twitter that the incident was a terrorist attack.

“I can confirm everything, let’s think this is a terrorist attack on the Notre-Dame Basilica,” he said.

This attack came shortly after France was also rocked by the murder of a teacher over the cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad.

Samuel Paty (47) was beheaded in the Eragny area by a young Chechen immigrant, Abdoullakh Abouyezidovitch (18) on 17 October.

The trigger was Paty, who discussed the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in class, which later caused controversy. At first, he had allowed several Muslim students to leave the classroom if they did not agree with the material he was discussing.

Later, several Muslim students shared the learning theme with their parents. The incident was later widely shared on social media.

Paty, who saw the charge, complained to the police about libel charges.

Abouyezidovitch is said to have seen the post on social media and planned to kill Paty.

Paty’s murder garnered large demonstrations in the country.

Meanwhile, France itself faces a wave of attacks’lonely wolf‘, which has killed more than 250 people since the attacks on the offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in January 2015.
