The French opposition called Macron’s speech an offensive against the Muslim world

Leader of the opposition French Jean-Luc Melenchon joined the criticism of President Emmanuel Macron for your statement which is considered insulting Islam.

Jean said Macron “completely lost control of the situation” in his dispute with Turkey over Islamophobia.

He also revealed that he had supported Macron several times over his dispute with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. But now he chose to remain silent and no longer wants to support Macron in the dispute between the two heads of state.


“The best I can do is be calm,” he told Radio Inter France on Monday (10/26) Anadolu Agency.

“Last night, the president, for incomprehensible reasons, spread himself through a series of tweets, completely losing control of the situation,” Melenchon said.

He added that Macron should think about a future strategy after his comments hurt the feelings of many Muslims around the world.

“Better (Macron) think about what the strategy will be: France is being humiliated, humiliated and ridiculed, what do you want to do, besides tweet?”

Earlier this month, Macron called Islam a religion that is in crisis. He also announced plans to enact stricter laws to address what he calls Islamic separatism in France.

He condemned beheading teachers who used cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in class. On the other hand, he defended what the teacher was doing under the pretext of freedom of expression.

Several countries with Muslim-majority populations, such as Turkey and Pakistan, also condemned Macron’s attitude toward Muslims. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan previously said the French leader needed a “mental health check.”

Erdogan also called for a boycott of French products.

Previously, the invitation to boycott French products was echoed in the Arab and Middle Eastern regions. The boycott of French products was already taking place in Kuwait and Qatar.

Dozens of stores in Kuwait tested the boycott by posting photos on social media that showed workers removing processed French cheese from the shelves.
