The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms the declaration of the French president on Islam

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia stated that it was asking the Indonesian Embassy for confirmation of the President’s statement. French, Emmanuel macron, related to Islam that has drawn criticism.

“MUI asked the foreign minister to immediately summon the French ambassador to Indonesia for clarification and full explanation on the position of President Macron’s statement,” Muhyiddin said in his official statement.

Macron sparked debate after making a statement on Friday (10/23), last week. He said that “Islam is a religion that is experiencing a world crisis.”

Muhyiddin assessed that Macron had indirectly supported the Islamophobia movement in Europe today. According to him, it is not surprising that the leaders of Islamic countries reacted strongly to Macron’s attitude and asked to withdraw his statement.

“Macron has a lot to learn about religious tolerance, especially Islam,” he said.

However, Macron claimed that he still upheld the secular principles applied by France.

Macron said his government would continue and respect all differences in peace. He stated that he would not tolerate hate speech and would maintain a culture of debate to defend opinions.

“Our history shows the fight against tyranny and fanaticism. We will continue. We will continue, we will continue to defend human dignity and universal values,” Macron said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded to Macron’s statement. He said Macron had to have his mental health checked as a result of making the statement.

“What is the problem with the individual Macron calls Islam and with Muslims? Erdogan said,” Macron needs mental medicine. “

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan accused Macron of “attacking Islam” as a result of the statement.

“This is a time when President Macron can bring a healing touch and deny space to extremists rather than create further polarization and marginalization that inevitably leads to radicalization,” Khan tweeted.

“It is regrettable that he chose to promote Islamophobia by attacking Islam rather than violent terrorists, be they Muslims, white supremacists or Nazi ideology,” he added.
