JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said his party once asked the central government to re-evaluate the determination to leave on the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.

It should be noted that the government decided to make October 28 and October 30, 2020 as holidays with the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Thus, there will be a five-day holiday, from October 28 to November 1, 2020.

According to Anies, an assessment of the joint license determination should be conducted to anticipate an increase in Covid-19 cases after the holidays.

“Actually, three weeks ago we recommended that in a meeting with the group (task of accelerating the management of Covid), they consider the issue of vacations, long vacations,” Anies said in Polda Metro Jaya, South Jakarta, on Monday (10/26/2020).

However, the central government still set a joint holiday on October 28-30.

Therefore, the provincial government of DKI can only anticipate an increase in Covid-19 cases after a long vacation by ensuring the availability of isolation beds and ICUs in 98 referral hospitals.

“The central government has decided to continue with the long vacation. Yes, it is the decision of the central government, now we are anticipating all the side effects,” Anies said.

“Anticipation means that we have to be prepared for the number of beds, then the testing and follow-up activities because the experience of long vacations after there is an increase (in the case of Covid-19),” he continued.
