Although he had just lost, Gaethje was already contemplating another duel. He issued a special challenge for McGregor. Gaethje said he was ready to face McGregor in the lightweight title race.

Because now, it is known that the title is not owned by anyone. This is because Khabib, who won UFC 254 and earned lightweight champion status, decided to retire.

Gaethje also challenged McGregor to face him in the duel for the lightweight champion belt. Still, Gaethje of course had to be patient because McGregor was already scheduled to meet Dustin Poirier in advance.

The McGregor vs. Poirier duel is scheduled for next year, in January to be precise. This duel also marks the return of The Notorious, McGregor’s nickname, from retirement.

Poirier and McGregor will fight. They haven’t made it official yet, so if McGregor wants to get up and get the belt, I’m here, “he said.
