KOMPAS.com – Khabib Nurmagomedov announces his retirement from mixed martial arts (MMA) after ending the UFC 254 match against Justin Gaethje with a win.

The Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Justin Gaethje duel that was held in Fight Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Sunday morning (10/25/2020) ended in the second round of the WIB submission.

Khabib Nurmagomedov has the right to defend the lightweight champion belt (light) UFC thanks to this victory.

Khabib’s victory was also marked by a series of impressive records.

First, he is undefeated with a 29-0 winning streak.

In his statement after the match against Gaethje, he also explained the reasons for withdrawing from the UFC event.

He admits that he cannot continue fighting without his father’s presence.

“When the UFC told me about the fight with Gaethje, I spoke to my mother, three days after my father passed away.”

“My mother didn’t want me to fight without my father, but I promised my mother that this would be the last one. When I promised, I had to deliver,” Khabib said.

At the end of his statement, Khabib also revealed his latest request to the UFC.

“This is my last fight. My last request to the UFC is that you make me the number 1 fighter. pound for pound in the world because I deserve it, “said Khabib.
