Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– The Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, admitted that several factories that moved to other provinces due to low wages admitted that they were sorry. This is because productivity in these other provinces is lower than in West Java.
“(Factories) that have moved to other provinces also regret it. Wages may be cheap, but productivity is low,” said Kang Emil, Ridwan Kamil’s nickname in a discussion on Advances for regional chiefs amid a pandemic and CNBC Indonesia Indonesia Award for Best Regional Leaders, on Friday (10/23/2020).
He explained that West Java is one of the best provinces in real sector investment activities. This is because the West Java infrastructure is the most complete and the human resources are highly productive.
This infrastructure will be added to the port of Patimban, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in the near future for phase one. Kang Emil hopes that Patimban Port can start exporting immediately after the opening.
“The cost in Indonesia is estimated to be expensive because the cost from the factory to Tanjung Priok is more expensive than that from Tanjung Priok to Shanghai,” he explained.
