Liverpool got their first win after being left by Van Dijk, who was seriously injured
Liverpool managed to score a 1-0 win over Ajax Amsterdam in the opening match of Group D of the Champions League at the Cruyff Arena Stadium on Thursday (10/22) at the WIB in the morning. This is the first victory after the absence of Virgil Van Dijk.
Without the presence of the Dutch defender, Fabinho could look good at replacing the role in defense even though he was helped by Kudus’ injury in the opening minutes. Liverpool himself could only score with an own goal from Tagliafico in the 35th minute.
Ajax came close to leveling the score if Klaassen’s shot early in the second half didn’t hit the post, and it was the last dangerous opportunity the hosts created. But this victory was not enough to lead Liverpool to control the Group B classification after Atalanta beat Midtjylland 4-0 elsewhere.
Player lineups
Ajax XI: Andre Onana; Noussair Mazraoui, Perr Schuurs, Lisandro Martinez, Nicolas Tagliafico; Davy Klaassen, Daley Blind, Ryan Gravenberch; David Neres, Dusan Tadic, Mohammed Kudus.
Liverpool XI: Adrian; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Fabinho, Andy Robertson; James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Curtis Jones; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane.
