Paris –
Alex Telles already wowed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his debut match at Manchester United. Now it’s still how Telles looks consistently good.
Telles was one of MU’s purchases at the end of the transfer market last summer. The Brazilian defender was signed from Porto with a £ 13.5 million tag, after going through a rather tough negotiation process.
Telles’ debut was delayed last weekend, before it began when United visited Paris Saint-Germain, on Wednesday (10/21/2020) at the morning WIB.
Replacing Luke Shaw, Telles played as a left back in a 3-5-2 formation. Facing PSG, which has a formidable attack line, MU is trying to minimize attacks from the wings that are dominated by Neymar and Angel Di Maria.
Telles performed quite well in throwing several measured passes for his colleagues. In fact, he often had trouble blocking PSG attacks as well.
As a result, MU won 2-1 and became an important asset in the competition in Group H. For Solskjaer as manager, Telles’ performance has been satisfactory and only needs to be improved. The most important thing is consistency.
“You can see Alex’s debut, what he can give us. His crossover was extraordinary,” Solskjaer was quoted as saying by Mirror.
“I think today we have shown that this team is capable of playing in many different ways and systems,” he continued.
“Alex Telles played very well in his debut match, we know he is fantastic throwing crosses.”
“We still have a few players left, so I can’t wait to see what happens in the next few weeks and months,” concluded Solskjaer.
Alex Telles is likely to start over when Manchester United have a big party this weekend against Chelsea.
