A high-ranking police officer with the initials Brigjen EP is reportedly involved in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) groups. The National Police said the case had been handled by the Propam Division.

“Propam,” said Deputy Chief of Police for Human Resources, Inspector General Sutrisno Yudi Hermawan, at Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (10/20/2020).

Sutrisno said Brigadier General EP had already examined Propam. Currently, Sutrisno said, the case is in the process of law enforcement.

“It has been the law enforcement process,” he said.

The news about the existence of LGBT groups in TNI and Polri came after being revealed by the deputy chief of the Supreme Court (MA) in the military field, Burhan Dahlan. The National Police said the Propam team was moving to process a series of reports.

“Look, if it is related to the case (LGBT in the TNI-Polri), of course we are still waiting from the Propam Police how the developments so far relate to the existing reports,” said Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono at the Police Headquarters, on Friday (10/16).

Awi said that in the Kapolri (perkap) regulation, it has been regulated with respect to LGBT. Where every member of the Police is obliged to obey and respect the rules, one of which is the rule of decency.

Awi said that if members of the National Police are involved in LGBT groups, the Police will not hesitate to take firm action. The sanction of the ethical code, Awi continued, awaits personnel who have deviations of LGBT sexual orientation.

“So, if this happens, of course the National Police will act decisively because there are already legal norms for those who violate it. Of course, sanctions to the code of ethics are waiting. We will ask about the advances to Propam,” he added.
