Jakarta –
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati confirmed that he would not exempt new cars from the tax. According to him, in the near future there will be no plans or discussions on this matter.
Here are 3 reasons:
1. Sri Mulyani refuses 0% tax
Sri Mulyani refused to impose a 0% tax on new cars. Earlier, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang proposed relaxing the tax on new cars by 0% or reducing the tax on motor vehicles (PKB). This effort is expected to stimulate the market and at the same time stimulate the growth of the automotive sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are currently not considering giving a new car tax of 0% as transmitted by the industry and the Ministry of Industry,” he said in the October 2020 edition of the KiTa State Budget Press Conference which was broadcast via YouTube of the Ministry of Finance, on Monday (10/19/2020).
2. Help in other ways
Sri Mulyani assessed that the government has provided many incentives to all sectors, including industries that are under pressure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We will try to support the industrial sector as a whole through the incentives we provide,” he said.
3. Evaluation of incentives
Sri Mulyani said that he would continue to assess the general incentives that have been given to various sectors to continue to do justice and that the assistance would not have a negative impact on other economic activities.
“Each incentive that we provide will be evaluated in its entirety, so we do not give incentives, on the one hand it will be negative for other economic activities,” he explained.
