KOMPAS.com – Timo Werner expressed his feelings after Chelsea reached a draw at Southampton in the fifth week of the 2020-2021 Premier League.

Chelsea host Southampton at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Saturday (10/17/2020) WIB night.

The duel ended equally strong 3-3. Timo Werner brought in two Chelsea goals, while Kai Havertz scored another goal.

Meanwhile, Southampton’s three goals were created by Danny Ings, Che Adams and Jannik Vestergaard.

Despite contributing two goals for Chelsea, Timo Werner was not satisfied because the match ended in a draw.

“The first half we played very well until Southampton scored a goal,” said Timo Werner, quoted by Mirror.

“When you concede a goal a few minutes before the break it is not an easy situation because you have to do better in the second half.”

“In the second half, Southampton put a lot of pressure on us. I think we gave them too many chances to score.”

“I am happy with my goals, but in the end I still want to win games. This is a day where I am 50 percent happy and 50 percent not,” said the German.

Also, Timo Werner admitted to being frustrated with the Chelsea defense.

According to him, a solid defensive line is one of the conditions for winning the Premier League title.

“I don’t know if we have that problem, but we have actually conceded six goals in the last three games,” he said.

“We are Chelsea and we want to fight for the titles. In the end, the attacking game is not what makes the teams win titles.”

“In Germany, we always say that a strong defense can make a team win titles. I think that’s true.”

“I think we have to improve (defense) because six goals conceded in three games is too much. I think we have to be better at this,” said Timo Werner.

This tie placed Chelsea in sixth place in the Premier League standings with a record eight points.
